KEY FACTS

KAMAZ Group of Companies is the largest truck producer in the Russian Federation. KAMAZ PTC is one of the world's top 20 heavy duty truck producers. It ranked 14th by production volumes of heavy-duty trucks with GVW exceeding 16 tonnes in 2021 and 20th among the world's producers of trucks with GVW 6 tonnes.

Production capacity is 71 thousand vehicles a year. About 2.4 million trucks rolled off the assembly line during the entire period of the company's operation.

The company is part of Rostec State Corporation.

One single production base of KAMAZ PTC Group of Organizations incorporates the overall truck manufacturing cycle, beginning from design, manufacture, assembly of vehicles and components and ending up with sales of finished products and service backup.

The process flow group includes several major plants involved in truck making business. The following operations are located on the industrial site in Naberezhnye Chelny: Foundry and Forge Plant, Engine Plant, Press and Stamping Plant, Truck Assembly Plant, Repair and Tool Making Plant, Master Industrial Park. Major subsidiaries situated outside Naberezhnye Chelny are NEFAZ PTC and TZA PTC (Republic of Bashkortostan).

KAMAZ Group of Companies comprises more than 100 organizations based in Russia, the former Soviet Uni on republics and other foreign countries.

The average headcount of the KAMAZ process flow group for 10 months of 2023 is 30,393 persons.

Despite the difficult realities, KAMAZ ended 2022 better than the previous year, which was the most successful in the company's history in terms of financial performance. The business plan for 2023 provides for revenue of more than 300 billion rubles, EBITDA at the level of 24 billion rubles, and net profit of 5 billion rubles.

PRODUCTS

KAMAZ PTC produces a variety of heavy vehicles: trucks (over 60 basic models, over 1,500 trim versions, right-hand drive vehicles), trailers, buses, engines, power units and various tools. KAMAZ has always been holding a strong position in the market of trucks with GVW from 14 to 40 tonnes. The vehicle line has in recent years expanded due to new models ranging from metropolitan delivery trucks to higher capacity vehicles for operation as part of road trains with GVW of up to 120 tonnes. In addition, the year 2018 saw a start of serial production of KAMAZ electric buses. In 2020, one of KAMAZ novelties entered the market. It was the KAMAZ-54901 freight truck, the first representative of the K5 generation vehicles. In 2021, the K5 line was expanded.

QUALITY

Designing competitive products in terms of quality benchmarks which meet customers’ requirements and expectations is the pivotal aim of KAMAZ PTC in the quality area and key to the Company’s and its employees’ financial well-being and sustainability.

This goal is stated in the Quality Policy of KAMAZ PTC fixing underlying principles from which the company's quality assurance activities are built.

The tool which enables KAMAZ PTC to achieve the goals the Company has committed itself to in the area of quality is the quality management system.

The quality management system of KAMAZ PTC has been recognized to conform to the requirements of international and Russian standards:

- ISO 9001:2015, GOST R ISO 9001-2015 in respect to design, development, production and sales of trucks, truck and bus chassis, vehicle components, spare parts and vehicle assembly sets, casts and die forgings, tools and accessories, truck maintenance.

- GOST RV 0015-002-2012 in respect to design, development, production, testing and sales of vehicles.

The Quality Management System of KAMAZ PTC embraces all stages of the product life-cycle from marketing and designing to maintenance of ready vehicles carried out by the manufacturer.

In 2011, КАМАZ was awarded the 5-star level in the European Competition EFQM per Recognized Excellence model, which is confirmed by the certificate; the Company has been put on the European Register of successful organizations.

In 2013, KAMAZ PTC won the 9th International Quality Tournament among the Central and Eastern European countries.

In 2015, KAMAZ PTC was awarded the diploma as one of contestants struggling for the Russian Government Quality Award. 

In 2019, KAMAZ PTC became the laureate of the competition for quality awards of the Russian Government.       

ASSEMBLY OPERATIONS

KAMAZ PTC has been running assembly operations in Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, India, Vietnam. 

The plant in Uzbekistan assembles diesel- and gas-powered KAMAZ vehicles from SKD supplied by KAMAZ PTC.

CUSTOMER BASE

Our customers are companies from all economic sectors wh ere trucks are used, haulers, regional and city truck fleets in Russia and countries of the Company’s historical presence, natural monopolies, major corporate clients, government run enterprises and institutions. Major users of KAMAZ products in this country are GAZPROM, LUKOIL, SUEK, ТNK and others.

MARKETS

In 2021, KAMAZ products were exported to more than 50 countries of the CIS, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America. The total volume of exports of vehicles, CKD and SKC kits of KAMAZ amounted to 5,822 units, which is 33.6% higher than in 2020 (4,359 units).

The most significant export markets in 2021 for KAMAZ PTC were Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Vietnam. Revenue from export sales amounted to almost 23 billion rubles, including 3.4 billion rubles from the export of spare parts. In the structure of exports of KAMAZ PTC for 2021, the share of complete vehicles accounted for 46%, and more than half of the export volume (54%) was provided by the supply of CKD and SKD kits to assembly plants in Uzbekistan, Lithuania, Azerbaijan.

According to the results of the first quarter of 2022, KAMAZ exported 1,258 units of vehicles, CKD and SKD. The main sales markets in 2022 are Uzbekistan, Belarus.

DEALER AND SERVICE NETWORK

The sales and service network of KAMAZ PTC covers all the regions of Russia and the CIS, as well as the historical foreign markets. KAMAZ continues to actively expand its sales and service network in Russia and beyond its borders. 

As of January 1, 2023, the dealer network in the Russian Federation numbers 206 dealerships. These are 74 3S status dealers (truck sales, spare parts sales, service support), 34 2S status dealers of vehicles (truck sales and service support), 29 2S status dealers of spare parts (spare parts sales and service support), 44 1S status dealers (service support only), 17 distributors of spare parts sales, and 8 dealers selling passenger vehicles.

Underlying the service system are the principles of uniform style and maximum approximation of aftermarket services to the customer. The service network deployment has been proceeding along the two lines: construction of new service centers and reconstruction of existing service stations. In the philosophy of its dealer relations, the Company swears by a special internal document called Manual for Dealers of KAMAZ PTC which lays down all the requirements as well as terms and conditions the dealers must live up to. Certification of dealerships and service stations, pursuant to the Manual for Dealers of KAMAZ PTC, allows uniform service format and better recognition of authorized dealers by customers to be ensured, the requirements relating to organization of the dealer’s key business processes to be formalized.

In 2022, 15 new dealer centers of KAMAZ PTC were built or reconstructed and commissioned in the cities of Astrakhan, Saransk, Smolensk, Tambov, Tomsk, Moscow Oblast, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Nizhny Novgorod, Syktyvkar, Crimea, Yaroslavl, Naberezhnye Chelny. All of them comply with the standards of the Manual for Dealers of KAMAZ PTC and the Guide to Corporate Identity of KAMAZ PTC.

In 2022, 32 new entities of the dealer network of KAMAZ PTC were appointed throughout the Russian Federation: in Arkhangelsk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kemerovo, Kostroma, Leningrad, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Rostov, Samara, Saratov, Smolensk, Sverdlovsk, Tambov, Tomsk, Tyumen, Ulyanovsk, Yaroslavl Oblasts, as well as in Zabaikalsky, Stavropol, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk Krais, in Bashkortostan, Komi, the Donetsk People's Republic, YNAO.

The company continues to sel ect the subjects of the dealer network of KAMAZ PTC in the following regions of the Russian Federation: Zabaikalsky Krai, the Republic of Dagestan, Murmansk Oblast, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

LEASING

KAMAZ Leasing Company JSC (KAMAZ-LEASING brand), the only leasing company operating directly from the manufacturer, KAMAZ PTC, is a 100% subsidiary. This is one of the largest leasing companies in Russia, specializing in the leasing of vehicles manufactured by KAMAZ and special equipment on KAMAZ chassis from the manufacturer.

КАМАZ-MASTER

In 2023, the KAMAZ-master team turned thirty-five years old. It is still the only Russian factory team that successfully represents the country in the world motorsport. It is a multiple prizewinner and nineteen-time winner of the Dakar super marathon. KAMAZ-master is the world's top truck racing team.

The KAMAZ-master team, formed out of only KAMAZ racers, includes five World Cup winners, 16 Masters of Sports of International Class, 12 Honored Masters of Sports of Russia, 16 Masters of Sports. Vladimir Chagin, a seven-time winner of the Dakar rally, Master of Sports of International Class, Honored Master of Sports of Russia, is at the head of the racing team. KAMAZ confidently converts its winning Dakar track record into success of its business.

At the end of 2023, by the decision of Sergey Kogogin, Director General of KAMAZ PTC, Eduard Nikolaev was appointed as the new head of the KAMAZ-master team. The former team leader, Vladimir Chagin, left his post to focus even more on the International Silk Way Rally project and socio-political activities. At the same time, he will continue to work in the team and will head the Board of Non-Profit Partnership KAMAZ-Avtosport in order to continue to be useful to his native team with his experience and advice.

ADVANTAGES OF THE PRODUCTS MADE BY KAMAZ PTC

All this enables the Company to perfect KAMAZ vehicles and upgrade them to the level of world industry leaders. In the domestic market, KAMAZ PTC has been waging an active, well-balanced and independent pricing policy, with primary focus on the market demand and optimal price to quality ratio.

MAJOR EVENTS OF 2022

The beginning of the year was marked by the triumph of the KAMAZ-master team in the Dakar-2022 rally: the crews of Dmitry Sotnikov, Eduard Nikolaev, Anton Shibalov and Andrey Karginov, who took first to fourth place, respectively, became the best in the truck standings. Thus, the team became a 19-time winner of the most difficult international rally marathon.

KAMAZ has launched a new line of Compass light commercial vehicles. In 2022, more than 1 thousand such vehicles were produced.

For its great contribution to the development of the automotive industry of the Russian Federation, KAMAZ PTC was awarded a Certificate of Honor by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. In addition, Sergey Kogogin, General Director of KAMAZ, was thanked by the Chairman of the Federation Council for his many years of conscientious work and great contribution to the development of the domestic automotive industry.

Also, for a great contribution to the development and creation of new special vehicles, strengthening the country's defense capability, and many years of conscientious work, the staff of KAMAZ PTC was thanked by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The designers of the Scientific and Technical Center of KAMAZ PTC developed a unique self-driving dump truck KAMAZ-6559 (Jupiter 30), designed for quarry work in autonomous mode. It was created for the transportation of loosened rock mass or ore using a remote technology – without the presence of people in the dangerous zone of heavy-duty trucks and excavators.

The crew of the KAMAZ-master team under the direction of Dmitry Sotnikov became the winner in the absolute and truck standings of the Silk Road-2022 rally.

In July, Sergey Kogogin, General Director of KAMAZ PTC, and Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, signed an agreement on cooperation in the development of passenger transport and the production of a domestic electric car. On November 23, KAMAZ and the Moscow government launched the production of Moskvich cars.

The Educational and Technological complex "Casting" was opened at the KAMAZ foundry, the main direction of which is practical training in all the basic technologies of foundry production and casting quality control. This unique platform has become the next step of the company in the purposeful planned work on building a new system of personnel training.

On September 14, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum 2022, a presentation of the KAMAZ-6250 all-terrain shift bus developed by KAMAZ engineers by order of Gazprom PJSC, took place. It is noteworthy that this is a full-fledged middle-class bus with a frame-panel single body, but not a truck with a traditional shift-type superstructure.

In October, the KAMAZ spare parts and components factory produced a 100-thousandth gearbox since the opening of the enterprise.

Within the framework of the International Exhibition of Bus Equipment BW Expo, which took place from November 29 to December 1 in Moscow, KAMAZ presented a bus of a particularly large class KAMAZ-6299-40-5T, powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), a KAMAZ-6250 all-wheel drive shift bus and a NEFAZ-5299-31-52 restyled commuter bus.

New products of KAMAZ became the winners of the Grand Prix competition "Behind the Wheel" – Commercial Vehicles in three categories at once. A city bus of a particularly large class KAMAZ-6299-40-5F, a restyled urban low-entry NEFAZ bus-5299-30-57 and a restyled city low-floor bus NEFAZ-5299-40-52 were recognized as winners in the nomination "Large Class Buses". The KAMAZ-43089 (Compass-12) won in the category "Medium-Tonnage Trucks". The KAMAZ-910.10-550 diesel engine was recognized as the winner in the "Best Power Plant" nomination.

Ensuring technological sovereignty in 2022 was among the priority national tasks, and KAMAZ confidently coped with it.

COMPANY'S PLANS AND OBJECTIVES FOR 2023

In 2023, KAMAZ PTC plans to allocate 20 billion rubles for the implementation of the investment program.

The main goal of the company in 2023 is to ensure technological sovereignty and meet demand through domestic products.

Thus, it is planned to expand the model range of K5 trucks made of sanctions-resistant components, with improved consumer characteristics in 2023.

In 2023, it is also planned to expand the range of medium-duty vehicles: in addition to the mastered production of Compass 9 and Compass 12 vehicles, it is planned to introduce the Compass 5 model into the market.

In 2023, the KAMAZ truck assembly plant will continue implementing the large-scale Axles project. The aggregate production is to be reengineered later.

In 2023, the company will create a diesel internal combustion engine with an efficiency of up to 50% and ensure the target specific fuel consumption of 171.4 g/kWh.

The Company will continue cooperating with partners in the development of NGVs on an accessible component base.

As part of the Unmanned Logistics Corridors project, KAMAZ plans to launch five units of highly automated KAMAZ-54901 vehicles for testing on the M11 Neva federal highway.

In 2023, the company plans to bring to the market new models of passenger transport, the development of which was suspended in the previous year due to the transition to alternative components. These are extra-large-capacity buses, the so-called “accordions” in diesel and gas modifications, a trolleybus, which will advance a line of electric vehicles, and comfortable buses of the middle class. As for sales, the plans are to increase sales of electric and passenger vehicles by 24% compared to 2022.

In general, in 2023 the company will resume the production of trucks of a new model range: it is planned to produce 10.6 thousand trucks of the K4 and K5 generations.

As part of the Atom project, it is planned to create a domestic electric car to change the image of a mobile urban environment. According to preliminary forecasts, electric cars will be used from 2024, and a prototype will be created as early as 2023. As Sergey Kogogin, General Director of KAMAZ, noted, there are trends in the world to use new energy sources, and the company is ready for technological changes. KAMAZ will support the creation of a new electric transport and will contribute to the development of the direction.

KAMAZ PTC has never cooperated, is not cooperating now and will not cooperate in the future with persons, companies, countries which have UN sanctions imposed on them.
