Awards were presented to the first Director General of KAMAZ

Today in Moscow, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov presented the order of merit for the Republic of Tatarstan to the first Director General of KAMAZ, Lev Vasiliev. Vasiliev was also awarded the medal «100 years of formation of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic».

The award ceremony was attended by Serey Kogogin, CEO of KAMAZ, who has maintained warm friendly relations with his legendary predecessor for many years, and Alfiya Kogogina, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

Lev Borisovich Vasiliev headed the company for 12 years: from 1969 to 1981. Under his leadership, production buildings were built, the first and second stages of KAMAZ were commissioned, and the first hundreds of thousands of trucks were produced. In 1977, Lev Vasiliev was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor. In February 2020, he will be 95 years old.
