KAMAZ PTC, DAIMLER AG AND DAIMLER KAMAZ RUS LAUNCHED THE PRODUCTION OF PLANT STRUCTURES CABINS

On May 27, the solemn opening of a new plant for the production of cab frames for KAMAZ and Mercedes-Benz trucks took place in Naberezhnye Chelny.

The opening of a new plant for the production of cabs for trucks in Naberezhnye Chelny is a major milestone in the history of cooperation between the Russian auto giant – KAMAZ and the largest international automobile concern – Daimler AG. The management of this production will be by a joint venture of these two companies DAIMLER KAMAZ RUS.

The capacity of the plant is 55 thousand cabins per year. Cab frames will be supplied to the assembly line KAMAZ and assembly production of Mercedes-Benz trucks in Naberezhnye Chelny. The commissioning of a new enterprise with an area of more than 60 thousand square meters will ensure the creation of 700 new work places.

Production has the highest level of automation in Russia. On its territory there are welding shops, painting cabins and logistics, energy center. After welding, the cab frames are transported to the second floor, after which they get to the cataphoresis and painting line, and then to the drying line. Next comes the logistics area, where they are shipped to the assembly lines of KAMAZ and DK RUS for subsequent assembly and installation on the chassis.

The new plant follows the principles of clear logistics and lean production. Highly automated welding shop to achieve premium quality, the use of innovative painting technologies based on super solid paints, automatic loading system cabins in specialized trailers for their further transportation to the assembly line – all these latest technologies were implemented for the first time in Russia at the plant for the production of cabin frames. The total investment in the creation of the cab frame plant amounted to more than 14 billion rubles.

The opening ceremony of the new plant on May 27, 2019 was attended by Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation for the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexander Morozov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the State Corporation Rostec Sergey Chemezov and Director General of KAMAZ PTC Sergey Kogogin.

From the German side in the ceremony participated: Member of the Board of Directors of Daimler AG, Head of business unit trucks and buses, Daimler AG Martin Daum, Head of the truck division of Mercedes-Benz, Daimler AG Stefan Buchner, Chairman of the Board of Directors DK RUS and Member of the Board of Directors of KAMAZ Herald Yank, the Director General of DK RUS Andreas Deuschle.

"The launch of the new cab frame plant was an important point in the implementation of the investment program on the way to the transition of KAMAZ to the production of a new model range – K5 generation cars," commented Sergey Kogogin, Director General of KAMAZ PTC. "We have already started to produce the first model of the new product line – KAMAZ-54901 main tractor."
