The transaction is expected to further the development of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. It will help to renew the vehicle fleet on the regional transportation market now flooded with European vehicles 70 percent of which are over 15 years. This, in turn, will create new jobs: about 70 forwarders and maintenance workers will be officially employed. It is also expected to receive additional tax revenues to the funds and budgets of different levels totaling 23.6 million rubles per year.

The KAMAZ-5490 long-haul tractor was sel ected not by chance. This year, it was named the best commercial vehicle in Russia. The truck is equipped with a comfortable air-conditioned Mercedes-Benz Axor cab with heated seats, a modified system of KAMAZ chassis. The truck is powered with a Mercedes-Benz OM457LA in-line six-cylinder engine generating 428 hp and satisfying Euro 5 emission standards.

The designers of the vehicle paid much attention to its safety properties. Disc brakes, EBS, ESP and ECAS electronic systems made the truck tractor a safe vehicle giving its driver a feeling of confidence behind the wheel.

The Russian prime mover in the niche of long-haul truck tractors is the cheapest vehicle compared to imported analogues. The KAMAZ’s operating costs per kilometer are a little bit over 19 rubles. The new KAMAZ also brings lower costs per a tonne of running which are equal to 65 kopecks. For comparison, European trucks’ costs range fr om 90 kopecks to 1.5 rubles per tonne-kilometer.
