Last Friday Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov got acquainted with the KAMAZ electric bus piloted in Kazan.

The head of the republic, accompanied by Sergey Kogogin, General Director of KAMAZ, and Ilsur Metshin, Mayor of Kazan, examined the passenger compartment of the innovative electric vehicle. During the inspection, Aydar Abdulkhakov, General Director of Metroelektrotrans Municipal Unitary Enterprise, reported that on July 15, the KAMAZ electric bus had begun running on Trolleybus Route 3: the Rechnoy Port stop – Akademika Glushko Street. The experts appreciated its specifications. According to Abdulkhakov, the main advantages of the electric bus are its environmental friendliness and energy efficiency. For 10 years of operation, this type of public transport will be twice as cost-effective as a gas-engine bus, and three times more cost-effective than a diesel one.

In his turn, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan noted the great potential of electric buses. He drew attention to the fact that China and European countries were actively switching to electric public transport. Rustam Minnikhanov also recalled that KAMAZ had delivered more than 500 electric buses to Moscow, and there they had proved to be reliable and modern transport means meeting the highest safety requirements.

Then Rustam Minnikhanov, Ilsur Metshin and Sergey Kogogin traveled as passengers on the electric bus from the River Port to the Theater named after Tinchurin. During the test trip, Rustam Minnikhanov appreciated the convenience and comfort of the new transport.
