The new vehicles will strengthen the transport system of X5 in Central and North-Western Federal Districts and in the Russian South.

X5 acquired 100 gas-diesel road trains based on a KAMAZ-5490 NEO recently developed by the automotive holding. The new gas-diesel road trains will run on the largest federal highways of Russia connecting Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Krasnodar and will enable to cut fuel costs. This reduction can significantly influence the delivery cost as fuel expenses make fr om 15 to 20% of all transport expenditures.

The KAMAZ-5490 NEO trucks are powered with a heavy-duty 12-litre turbo-engine generating 400hp and running on two types of fuel – diesel and methane. The KAMAZ-5490 NEO truck tractors will be equipped with NEFAZ refrigerated semitrailers also made in Russia. These vehicels comply with the strictest requirements of X5 to quality and feature all necessary units for food transportation. X5 has bought domestic semitrailers for the first time.

According to the contract, KAMAZ PTC is to maintain the truck tractors and semitrailers during their operation in certified service centers. The manufacturer's comprehensive offer for delivery and maintenance of all trucks will enable X5 to reduce time and financial expenditures for vehicle usage.

The gas-diesel KAMAZ meets the Euro 5 emmission standard. X5 is persistently improving eco-friendly features of its vehicle fleet. For now, 64% of the company's vehicle fleet corresponds to Euro 4 and 5, their share is to reach 74% by the end of 2017, and all Euro 3 vehicles will be taken off the road by the end of 2018.

Jointly with KAMAZ PTC, X5 is implementing a strategic partnership project under which X5 purchased 200 diesel KAMAZ truck tractors for 12 months of 2016. These vehicles showed their advantages during tests in winter Siberia and are used in all regions wh ere X5 is present. In all the company bought 757 vehicles in 2016.
