KAMAZ AT ANTI-COUNTERFEITING 2017 INTERNATIONAL FORUM

The delegation of KAMAZ (part of Rostec State Corporation) took part in the 5th Anti-Counterfeiting 2017 International Forum devoted to problems of copyright protection and prevention of trafficking of counterfeit products.

The forum was held in Bishkek with the support of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and International Аssociation of Anti-Counterfeiting Organisations Anti-Counterfeit. The business program included plenary sessions, sections and roundtables where burning problems of copyright protection and counteracting illicit traffic of industrial products were discussed. More than 500 representatives of public authorities, business and scientific communities, rights holders and experts participated in the forum. The delegation of KAMAZ was headed by Ildar Shamilov, Deputy Director General for Security.

In his speech, Shamilov dwelt upon the problem of import and traffic of counterfeit spare parts and vehicle components and told about measures taken in the company to promote protection of vehicle producers' rights and fight against traffic of counterfeit parts. The largest Russian truck manufacturer's experience aroused great interest among the forum participants. Also, the KAMAZ specialists made a presentation and a report on Illegal Use of a Well-Known Trademark in a Domain Name, the same material was published in the special issue of Bulletin of Kyrgyzpatent: Issues on Intellectual Property and Innovations.

As part of the event, negotiations were held with the representatives of the Federal Customs Service of Russia and Kazakhstan on further joint actions to promote protection of vehicle manufacturers' rights. At the end of of the forum, a number of constructive proposals were introduced to improve activities of the Eurasian Economic Commission aimed at protection of intellectual property rights, and guidelines were given to better combat the illicit trafficking of industrial products.
