The plant of spare parts and components of KAMAZ (part of Rostec State Corporation) is mastering a new assembly of Econom-class water pumps to be put on the market as early as in June.
In May trial samples of economical pumps underwent successful testing at the engine plant. Now the last preparations for the production launch are coming to an end at the plant of spare parts and components. The section which will accommodate assembly was expanded, soon it will acquire tables, crafting tables and all necessary machines. According to Andrey Zhdanov, Deputy Chief Engineer for Development, the plant plans to produce about 1500 pumps of the new price segment a month, and this is more than 2- million roubles of commercial output volume a year. "We've already mastered the production of the main detail of the pump - a shaft, and are already producing it. The rest components: impeller, housing and pulley - are purchased. They will be delivered to the bulk assembly shop," he told.
Pumps of the new price segment are assembled exclusively to be sold as spare parts. They are more than twice cheaper than genuine water pumps produced by the engine plant nowadays. the cost was reduced thanks to the use of composite materials requiring less expenses for manufacture. Besides, the use of composite gave the novelty another feature - lightness. The Economy-class pump weighs a bit more than two kilograms while a cast-iron pump weighs up to seven kilograms. The item of the new price segment was developed by AvtoZapchast KAMAZ. The enterprise gives a six month warranty on the use of the pumps, which is 30 km of travel. Light and economical Euro 2 and Euro 3 pumps will very soon be delivered to branded shops for selling.
It should be recalled that, in order to offer customers an opportunity to save money, in 2016 OOO AvtoZapchast KAMAZ decided to create a new price segment of genuine spare parts - Econom. Clients operating old vehicles don't have to buy, for instance, PCUs with a life-cycle ranging from half a million to one million kilometers. There is a category of spare parts with a shortened operational life - under 150-200 thous. kilometers. They are cheaper, and at the same time, they meet all quality requirements. There are many spare parts in this segment, now including the Econom-class water pump too.
