KAMAZ at Founrymen's Session

3 October 2017

The delegation fr om the foundry of KAMAZ (part of Rostec State Corporation) took part in the International Congress of Foundrymen of the SCO and BRICS countries.

This year the congress was held in Chelyabinsk wh ere more than 300 representatives of the foundry industry from Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Belarus and Germany arrived to participate in the event. They worked in a plenary session, sectional discussions and at exhibition stands, exchanging experience in the field of foundry technologies, production of equipment and materials.

Eduard Panfilov, Director of the Foundry, presented the foundry and told about its significance for the development of the Russian machine building complex in Russia. According to him, the average share of cast parts accounts for 50-70% of the weight (90% in the machine tool industry) and 20-22% of the cost of vehices. As a rule, cast parts carry high loads in vehicles and mechanisms and determine their operational reliability, accuracy and durability. Therefore, there are much stricter requirements to the quality of castings.

Also, the foundry experts of KAMAZ told the participants about the most promising developments in the field of furnace lining, production of alloys, manufacturing of molds and rods. ACS-Repair, one of the latest developments in the field of software for accounting for emergency repairs, was presented among other novelties. In addition, during the session, the foundrymen held a series of negotiations with the representatives of the RELTEC Group, Kazan National Research Institute-KAI and Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University and agreed to jointly realize a comprehensive program to improve the quality of the aluminum Cylinder Head casting.
