24 November 2020

At a meeting of the headquarters for the prevention of coronavirus infection in KAMAZ PTC, a decision was made to provide charitable assistance to medical institutions in the Astrakhan region.

The leadership of the Astrakhan region addressed Sergey Kogogin, Director General of KAMAZ PTC, with information about the region's urgent need for protective equipment and a request for assistance. It was decided that the auto giant will give 500 protective suits and 2 thousand KN95 respirators of KAMAZ production to Astrakhan doctors. Kits for hospitals in the region will be given for free.

Recall that due to the lack of PPE on the market, in order to assist urban health institutions in the fight against coronavirus, KAMAZ promptly organized the production of special protective kits for medical workers. In the second half of March, all factories of the auto giant in Naberezhnye Chelny started manufacturing personal protective equipment. The first in this direction was the automobile plant, where a section for the production of anti-epidemic kits was opened in one of the workshops. In July, KAMAZ started mass production of KN95 protective masks: their production was established at the spare parts and components factory.

According to Ildar Shamilov, Deputy General Director of KAMAZ PTC for safety, 13.9 thousand suits and almost 200 thousand masks were sewn during April-September, including 95.5 thousand KN95 respirators.

The expected result in the fourth quarter of the year is 300 thousand respirators. Batches of protective suits were transferred to the staff of hospitals in Naberezhnye Chelny, as well as to medical institutions in Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Mari El and Ulyanovsk region.
