The plant for production of cab frames for K5 KAMAZ trucks is preparing for process equipment installation. Last autumn, immediately after the building had been accepted, the industrial facility started to be equipped.

"KAMAZ's partner in this project – Daimler KAMAZ RUS Joint Venture managed to receive from the Federal Customs Service a classification decision enabling to import equipment for welding and painting under a unified customs code," told Deputy Director for Interaction with JV Vladislav Pastushenko. "This will greatly speed up delivery." He also informed that 150 trucks with Comau welding equipment and 400 trucks with Dürr painting equipment in all were to arrive in Naberezhnye Chelny.

Tanks for painting delivered by 20 vehicles are waiting for installation. The first batch had arrived as far back as October 2017, right before the building erected by KAMAZ and its partner Daimler was accepted.

Work is underway in all shops of the new plant. There are racks for components installed in the logistics terminal. Metal structures were mounted in the welding shop for cubsequent "connection" of assembly lines and 95 robots which will operate on two levels. Now, powerful air ducts are being installed, floor marking has started there. Immediately after delivery each unit will be placed on the spot marked by experts.

There is already a section for placement of painting equipment in the cab frame painting shop. Welded frames will pass along the conveyor right to the line of cataphoresis and painting, and after drying they will move to the second floor, and then go to the logistics zone and be delivered to the automobile plant.

A special focus is made on temperature requirements in the building. Structure erection and equipment installation should be carried out at the temperature higher than +10 °C, and equipment is launched at +20 °C.

Pre-commissioning activities at the welding and painting facilities are scheduled for June, and a trial batch of cab frames is to be produced already in October. Serial production of K5 KAMAZ trucks with new cabs is scheduled for 2019.
