NEW PRODUCT AT PRESS AND STAMPING PLANT

30 May 2018

KAMAZ Press and Stamping Plant stamped the first batch of blanks for a new aluminum fuel tank which will be installed in vehicles of the advanced lineup.

The production of the original product must be arranged this year. A site Is being prepared at the chassis shop for installation of welding robots for aluminum tanks, well-coordinated work is being carried out at the large stamping shop. Workers carefully wipe fuel tank bottoms and baffle plates coming out of presses and prepare them for packaging in special containers. It takes only several hours to stamp a trial batch, but it took several months to prepare this operation. The work was very difficult: by extrusion (the depth of the bottom is 88 mm) metal could tear. Together with experts, the design of stamps were refined by experienced tool men and millers of the die-making shop. As a result, stamps were made right on time.

The blanks for the trial batch will be delivered to the enterprise which received an order for production of equipment for debugging and testing. This autumn, the Press and Stamping Plant will receive robots. Aluminum fuel tanks made at the plant will be installed in vehicles of the new lineup. The launch of the line is scheduled for 2019.
