Tibet Project Is under the Supervision of Top Management

15 May 2017

A working meeting with the participation of the company's head Sergey Kogogin took place at the foundry of KAMAZ (part of Rostec State Corporation) where the implementation of the Tibet project was considered.

The Tibet project implies preproduction of a new motor – straight-six engine. According to the plan, the foundry is to produce 200 castings of new engine blocks in 2017, and to deliver 20 samples to KAMAZ engine workers till the end of May. It should be noted that the new block differs much from a block of KAMAZ's standard V-8 engines. This casting is higher, wider and heavier. The weight of the ready product is about 380 kilograms, and the core assembly weighs about 720 kg. The main problem the plant is solving now is manufacturing universalization and automaion to the highest extent: molding lines of the plant are to manufacture both conventional products, and new items.

Director of the Foundry Eduard Panfilov guided KAMAZ's General Director Sergey Kogogin through the whole project manufacturing process. He was shown the whole way – from the section of core production for new castings to the future section of cleaners. "I'm satisfied with production readiness. The foundry offered an option with a minimum investment and a maximum usage of existing equipment, which will enable to get the quality and quantity we are interested in," Kogogin emphasized. "We've already received the first samples, so the foundry is implementing the project stages well and in time."
