KAMAZ PTC and RUSNANO TC signed an agreement on strategic partnership in the development and production of advanced batteries for electric transport and floor equipment based on lithium-ion batteries. The document creates a basis for the implementation of joint projects on the development of electric transport in Russia and energy storage systems based on lithium-ion batteries, as well as brings cooperation between the two companies to a new global level.
The agreement was signed by Director General of KAMAZ PTC Sergey Kogogin and the Chairman of the Board of RUSNANO MC Anatoly Chubais. The signed agreement provides KAMAZ with exclusive conditions for the purchase of lithium-ion batteries produced by one of the portfolio companies of RUSNANO TC – Liotech-Innovations LLC. The volume of deliveries of lithium-ion batteries to the Assembly plants and enterprises for the production of automotive components KAMAZ will be determined based on the needs of the customer. The partners also plan to develop, test and launch into mass production of energy-efficient battery cells, modules and traction batteries intended for electric buses of various types (with dynamic, night, ultra-fast charging) and other types of electric transport, both produced by KAMAZ at the present time and promising models.

This agreement will help our portfolio company Liotech to plan the assortment more effectively and to offer the most interesting product and technology for KAMAZ.
Hundreds of thousands of electric buses go on the route every day in the world, and the electric transport market has several billion dollars. We see that the trend for electric transport inevitably comes to Russia.
In partnership with the largest Russian manufacturer of freight and passenger vehicles, RUSNANO will be able to create cost-effective turnkey solutions that meet the requirements of urban transport systems".
"The energy storage system accounts for about 30% of the cost of the electric bus. Therefore, the transition to Russian lithium-ion energy storage will significantly reduce the price of electric buses, as well as minimize dependence on imported components, which will be the next step of our company in the direction of import substitution," - said Sergey Kogogin, Director General of KAMAZ PTC.
In addition, within the framework of the agreement, RUSNANO and KAMAZ will work out joint proposals to strengthen measures of state support for the development of the Russian electric transport market using domestic lithium-ion energy storage systems for various regions of the Russian Federation. Also, the partners will prepare proposals for inclusion in the regional public transport development programs aimed at creating an environmentally friendly, comfortable public transport park in the regions that meets all international requirements for the safety of movement. An integrated approach to the assessment of regional transport systems will allow to find optimal solutions for the types of charging used and their optimal combination in Metropolitan areas.
