KAMAZ ARTICULATED ELECTRIC BUS CONTINUES TESTING IN MOSCOW

14 March 2022

In Moscow, the test drive of the KAMAZ-6292 extra-large class articulated electric bus continues successfully: in two months of trial operation, it carried almost 15,000 passengers.

The KAMAZ accordion electric bus was put into test operation at the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans at the beginning of this year. The prototype runs on one of the busiest and longest routes in the capital – t34 from the Park Pobedy metro station to the Yugo-Zapadnaya metro station. This type of transport, the so-called "accordions", is in great demand in Moscow because it can carry more passengers in one flight and, consequently, unload the most popular routes.

“According to the task set by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, we continue to develop the most environmentally friendly modes of transport and test the first accordion electric bus in the city. This most spacious electric bus can carry 1.5 times more people, and the range is almost doubled in comparison with that of a conventional one. For two months of test work on Route t34, it has already transported almost 15 thousand passengers. Testing in real urban conditions allows us to carefully analyze all the indicators and make a decision on its further work in the capital,” said Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport Maksim Liksutov.

The KAMAZ-6292 accordion electric bus was developed by the engineers of the KAMAZ Scientific and Technical Center in 2021 according to the terms of reference of the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans. The articulated model was designed with account of service background of the KAMAZ-6282 electric bus, which has been delivered to Moscow since 2018, and meets all modern requirements for passenger safety and comfort. It is noteworthy that the KAMAZ-6292 is a completely environmentally friendly model. This is the first electric bus in Moscow with an emission-free electric heater.
