KAMAZ INTERNATIONAL TRADE COMPANY CELEBRATED ANNIVERSARY

25 July 2022

Last week, a solemn event devoted to the 20th anniversary of KAMAZ International Trade Company JSC (VTK) was held.

KAMAZ International Trade Company set up in 2002 is a successor to the former KAMAZ International Trade Firm established in January 1987. The history of export development dates back to the launch of truck production at Kama truck assembly plant. Office of International Affairs (later reorganized into KAMAZ International Trade Firm) was established at the enterprise in August 1976.

Since March 13, KAMAZ International Trade Company, 100% owned by KAMAZ PTC, has an exclusive right to export the whole range of heavy-duty KAMAZ vehicles, truck and bus chassis, as well as special vehicles, power units, assembly sets and spare parts to the countries of the CIS and far abroad. For the period fr om 2002 to 2021, the total volume of exported KAMAZ vehicles exceeded 130 thousand units, which is more than a half of KAMAZ export for its whole 45-year history. The peak annual export volume (13,444 units) was reached in 2007.

Today’s directions of KAMAZ export trade are to the CIS and non-CIS countries. The CIS ensures the major part of export (up to 75%), and the far abroad (about 25%) enhances export stability due to geographic diversification of sales.

Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan (CIS), Vietnam, Cuba, Afghanistan, the UAE, Lithuania (non-CIS) have become the key foreign markets in terms of export volume for 20 years. KAMAZ exported its vehicles to more than 100 foreign countries.

Some export markets needed to localize truck production in order to overcome safeguard import duties, and VTK has accumulated strong experience in building assemblies abroad and export of CKD. From 2002 to 2021, assembly enterprises were set up in Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Ukraine, Hungary, Ethiopia, Iran, Pakistan, the UAE, and Uzbekistan. The aggregate CKD export volume reached almost 25 thousand units, which is about 20% of the overall export volume of KAMAZ vehicles for the mentioned period.

Spare parts export is an integral part of vehicle export. Spare parts are exported to all countries wh ere KAMAZ trucks are used. From 2002 to 2021, the export volume of KAMAZ spare parts totaled 42 bn roubles.

To date, the dealership network of KAMAZ PTC abroad numbers about 100 successfully operating entities, including distributors and dealers selling vehicles, spare parts, and service centers. About 60-70% of them fall on the CIS countries, the rest are far abroad countries (Latin America, Eastern Europe, Africa, the Near East, and Southeast Asia).

For achievements in export, KAMAZ 14 times received the Exporter of the Year badge.
