KAMAZ: results of the 2020 and plans for the 2021 year

The past year, 2020, was difficult and successful for KAMAZ at the same time. The foundation for further development has been laid. The events of the year will take their place in the company's history.

The beginning of the year was marked by the triumph of the KAMAZ-Master team in the Dakar international rally. In February, in connection with the spread of the coronavirus and its impact on the global economy, Sergey Kogogin, Director General of KAMAZ PTC, decided to organize a headquarters to counteract the pandemic. KAMAZ became one of the first enterprises where timely measures were taken to counteract the spread of a dangerous infection. During the year, a large-scale work was carried out, top managers of the company took timely steps to protect the team against epidemics and prevent the risks of disrupting the supply of components, which allowed KAMAZ to work stably and achieve significant production and financial indicators.

In 2020, KAMAZ signed a contract for the supply of 200 electric buses to the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans – it became the third in a row in the framework of cooperation with the metropolis and the largest in the history of the company. By the end of the year, the automaker successfully completed its obligations. As part of the next contract, 200 KAMAZ electric buses were transferred, and the company will be responsible for the full functionality of them for 15 years from the date of delivery. Today, more than 400 KAMAZ electric buses run on 40 routes in various districts of Moscow.

The production of KAMAZ-5490 NEO cars on LNG with two cryogen bucks has been mastered, and these cars are already in great demand. A large contract has been signed for the supply of 300 units of these products to the Russian transport company, which is a corporate client and a major operator of vehicles of the leading Russian manufacturer. KAMAZ became the first in Russia to produce cars on liquefied natural gas in such a volume.

In the spring of 2020, sales of the KAMAZ-54901 mainline tractor – the flagship of the K5 generation car line-started. A premium car has been created, which has some of the best fuel efficiency indicators among the competitors of the "Big Seven". It was possible to achieve an optimal ratio of price and properties of the new truck, which, together with the terms of sale and provision of service, allows you to count on market success.

The company has received a patent for an electric unmanned truck without a driver's cabin - Shuttle. A mobile cover module for autonomous vehicle control was developed at KAMAZ. The project was called Avatar.

Specialists of the Scientific and Technical Center of KAMAZ PTC worked on the creation of electric trucks, the first of which was an electric garbage truck with the index 53198 – KAMAZ-Chistogor. STC KAMAZ has developed and manufactured the first car in a new line of dump trucks – KAMAZ-65805, designed for use in medium and small quarries.

At the end of the year, in Moscow, within the framework of the VII annual national exhibition VUZPROMEXPO-2020, a presentation of an electric car developed by KAMAZ together with Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) was held.

The company continues to consistently implement the planned modernization program – it launches new products, launches production facilities and upgrades its facilities. During the pandemic, a modern tractor of the K5 generation was brought to the market and the pace of work in all other areas of development was maintained.

The next step in development is the 54907 tractor, with a new level of equipment with driver assistance systems, with energy saving systems that allow you to reach a new level in fuel consumption. In the same dimensions of the cab, a living space is formed for the most comfortable operation and life support of the driver.

"Despite the difficult situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic, KAMAZ has been working ahead of its business plan during this difficult period, - said Sergey Kogogin, CEO of the company, commenting on the results of its activities in 2020 and plans for the future. - I am sure that we will transfer this positive attitude and the pace of work to 2021. Consumers are waiting for our products, there are orders, and we will make every effort to meet the indicators outlined in the business plan."

In accordance with the business plan, the company intends to produce and sell 37 thousand cars in 2021. Of these, the Russian market will receive 32 thousand cars, the rest-for export. It is planned that the volume of investments in 2021 will amount to more than 16.7 billion rubles. Of these, 13 billion rubles will be allocated for the development of the model range, and more than 1 billion for R & D.

In 2021, the company plans to increase its market share to 51% due to the growth of sales of the new model range, strengthen its position in the segments of truck tractors and special equipment. In addition, among the main goals for the development of sales of KAMAZ vehicles in 2021 is the launch of new models of the K5 generation (6x2 truck tractor, 6x4, 6x6 and 8x4 dump trucks) and the development of a model range of gas-powered vehicles.
