THE FIRST CAB FRAME FOR COMPASS VEHICLES

During commissioning, the press and stamping plant of KAMAZ welded the first cab frame for the Compass light truck.

The contract for equipment delivery was concluded with the Chinese Jac company last spring. At the same time, the shop of cab assembly and welding prepared areas to host a line. The machines were being supplied during December, and as early as January 3 experts fr om China and a contractor started their installation. The line consists of four basic positions. The first section is meant for logistics, the second one is the main assembly and welding conductor wh ere a cab frame is formed, then there is a door touch-up welding and hinging point.

This week, works on the line diagnostics and programming were carried out in cooperation with the foreign experts. Within the frames of commissioning, it is planned to weld 16 frames of cabs of four types, the first of them was made on February 14.

The cab frames designed for trial assembly at the truck assembly plant will be welded and painted in early March. They will go to the truck assembly plant along a pushing overhead conveyor. A special integrating stand developed at the press and stamping plant will be applied for transportation.

Operating in a test mode, the line is meant for the output of 5,000 frames per year aссording to a one-shift working schedule.
