12 July 2017

The delivery volumes of products made by the forge plant of KAMAZ PTC (part of Rostec State Corporation) for ZF KAMA JV grew almost by one third. Ten and a half new forgings the production of which was mastered at the beginning of the year were put into serial manufacturing.

At the end of 2016, under the program of their own program of localization and mastering of new products, KAMAZ's partners applied to the forge plant with a request to conduct technological preproduction for forging of shafts and gears for Transmission 16S2220 of the Ecosplit series for heavy trucks as soon as possible. A working group was arranged to project die tooling for new items of ZF range. On a tight schedule, experts designed more than 30 items of die tooling, stamps were quickly made, new technologies were mastered. The designers used experience of projecting previous developments for ZF.

"Taking into account a great range of items and significance of the order of the company as a strategic partner, we united our efforts," Marat Zakirov, Chief of Marketing and Sales Department of the Forge Plant, commented. "And already this spring trial samples were made, and they were at once approved by the customer for further usage in series deliveries. This means that products meet ZF's high standards. It is well-known that the global leaders of vehicle component producer require perfect quality and delivery performance."

The forge plant of KAMAZ has been cooperating with ZF for many years. Within this period, the plant that had started as a partial supplier won the status of the only supplier of the joint neterprise in Russia. More than 40 positions of shaft and gear have been mastered by this moment. As for the new order for JV ZF KAMA, it will last till the end of the year, and it is one of the top priority orders in the general portfolio of diversification products of the forge plant.

The joint venture if the German concern ZF Friedrichshafen AG and KAMAZ PTC – OOO ZF KAMA – was set up on the 23rd of November 2005. This is the first production established by KAMAZ with the participation of the company and the first industrial enterprise making world-level high-tech products in Russia.
