KAMAZ ELECTRIC BUS IS BEING TESTED IN SOCHI

17 June 2022

KAMAZ has handed over a KAMAZ-6282 electric bus to MUE Sochiavtotrans for test operation on the streets of the city.

The presentation of the KAMAZ electric bus was attended by Nikolay Beskrovny, Vice Mayor of Sochi; Shamil Zaripov, Deputy Director of the Department of Passenger Transport of KAMAZ PTC; Vyacheslav Bauer, Director of the Department of Transport and Road Facilities of the Sochi Administration; Anatoly Mukhomor, Director of MUE Sochiavtotrans, and other managers. The participants of the event examined the interior of the electric bus and the driver's compartment, and also appreciated the smooth running and silent operation of the innovative electric transport during a short trip.

“In Sochi, the year 2022 has been declared the Year of Ecology. We took this decision very seriously and intend to radically reconsider our attitude to the environment on which human economic activity, primarily in the transport sector, has a certain impact. First of all, the resort town needs to take decisive steps to reduce the level of exhaust gases. In this matter, we are placing a big stake on public transport running on electricity, as well as the development of a network of charging stations. I would like to thank our partners, the Russian company KAMAZ and the operator Sitronics Electro, for the opportunity to apply their latest developments in the field of eco-transport in the Sochi territory,” commented Nikolay Beskrovny, Deputy Mayor of Sochi.

During the presentation of the symbolic key to the electric bus, Shamil Zaripov, Deputy Director of the Passenger Transport Department of KAMAZ PTC, noted the environmental and economic benefits of innovative electric transport. “A test version of the KAMAZ electric bus has already successfully passed trial operation in Kazan, Belgorod, Ufa, Perm. The electric bus is comfortable for passengers and cost-effective for carriers, so it is not surprising that in all these cities we received only positive feedback. Today it's Sochi's turn, and I hope the residents of the city, as well as tourists, will appreciate all the advantages of our electric transport,” said Shamil Zaripov.

The KAMAZ-6282 electric bus will run in test mode for two months on the city (circular) Route No. 17 "Yubileyny Cinema – Yubileyny Cinema". To charge it, an ultra-fast charging station has been installed on the territory of the bus fleet. Based on the results of the controlled operation of the electric bus, the specialists of KAMAZ and Sochiavtotrans will conduct an expert assessment after which the issue of further cooperation will be decided.

The transition to environmentally friendly municipal transport is an important part of the environmental project of the Sochi administration. Already now more than 100 buses running on methane operate in the city. An application has been submitted for participation in the national project “Safe High-Quality Roads” for the renewal of vehicles running on natural gas fuel.
