The thousandth electric bus was launched in Moscow: the jubilee item was assembled at SVARZ, the assembly site of KAMAZ in Moscow.
The launch of the 1000th KAMAZ electric bus is dedicated to the Green Bonds project, therefore the anniversary bus has a new design. The images on the body of the electric bus show how the capital takes care of the environment with the help of issued bonds. Within three months, three “green bond” styled KAMAZ electric buses will run on Moscow Routes 297 and c538. It should be noted that all electric buses with unique design were assembled at the Sokolnichesky Car Repair and Construction Plant (SVARZ), the KAMAZ assembly site in Moscow.
“It is gratifying that since May 2021, the electric buses supplied by KAMAZ under its government contracts have been produced in Moscow at the SVARZ plant. This is extremely important for us, as this production has created more than 100 jobs. We plan to start the second stage of the plant's development. It is important that this delivery of 2021 electric buses is fully paid for with green bonds. Next year we plan to purchase 500 more electric buses for the most popular routes,” said Maksim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport. He also stressed that one electric bus reduces emissions of harmful substances by about 260 kilograms per year – these are emissions produced by an ordinary diesel bus.
“We are successfully completing the fourth contract for the supply of 350 KAMAZ electric buses concluded with Mosgortrans at the beginning of 2021. We are preparing documents for the next tender in order to acquire another batch of these innovative buses for Moscow. We also expect that the delivery of the new model of an extra-large electric bus – the articulated KAMAZ-6292 – will be announced in the upcoming tender. This type of transport, the so-called "accordion", is in great demand in Moscow, since it allows transporting a greater number of passengers during one run," emphasized Samat Sattarov, Director of Passenger Transport at KAMAZ PTC.
